I did not start this list with criteria of what makes a good movie ending, but looking at it now I can pick out some common features: In most of these films the main character does not get what he was striving for throughout the film. Or should that be the end? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind employed similar narrative gymnastics (albeit in a more romantic setting) four years later. By 'Ending' I mean the last 1 to 30 minutes of the film as well as the situation after the story is finished-where the characters landed.
